Since Twilight's release in the UK last year, the popular book by Stephanie Meyer is seeing a new cycle of fans hitting shop shelves across the UK. I was lucky enough to be introduced to Meyer's beloved masterpieces two years ago now- back when vampires were extinct. One of my friends was living on the books, and after some persuasion and a lot of nudging I was encouraged to give the series a try.

"A book about vampires." I said, obviously unimpressed. As soon as the word was mentioned, I could only see the book as a boyish, ghostbusting sci-fi. A stereotypical vampire popped into my head complete with blood sucking fangs and a gothic coffin used as a coffee table. Not exactly the book that was high on my list.

However, after reading the entire series, I can honestly say that Meyer proved me wrong, as well as making an impact on the world full of screaming high-heeled fans. Edward Cullen was now our own fictional, portable heart throb. Although not the best writer in the world, Stephenie Meyer is a first class story spinner. After the dream of the vampire in the meadow in 2004 she has never looked back on her creation.

A face was then given to this heroic figure back in 2008 when Rob Pattison (what is up with the hair?!) was announced as the hunk for the upcoming movie.

After being a virtually unknown world, suddenly you can't go anywhere without hearing about heroic vampires, daring wearwolves and "Oh my god. I wanna marry a vampire now!!". And yes, this gets very old. VERY, VERY OLD. <------ bit of a subtle hint...

Ok, the screaming and adoring female fans did get old pretty quickly (not really in age though), but the books will live eternally. I'm looking forward to the upcoming movie, and no doubt there will be a million gasps as Pattison struts his "6 pack" (the magic of hollywood make-up) in the upcoming sequel.

The X Factor - Fight to the Top

After watching the X Factor last night, I realised the standard of the X Factor has reached new heights. Those from the auditions, who may have stolen the title in previous years, struggled to make it past boot camp. The stars in the final 12 have new highs, new lows and brand new challenges- the first of which having to perform in front of a live audience for their first audition. Talk about scary!! Just five years ago the winners of the X Factor - Steve Brookstein - reach great peaks in the shows, steal the lusted title and are then wiped from existence.

Did you hear Steve sings on cruise ships now? Not you didn't. You don't even know who Steve is do you.

At this early moment in the competition I feel obliged to offer my opinion on those still in the running. I believe there are 5 main people in the competition who could snatch the gold at this point in the live shows:

1. Stacey Solomon - The single mother from Essex has been welcomed kindly by the audience and seemingly could do no wrong. Although her voice does not particularly distinct her, the was she is received on and off stage and her quirky personality sets her apart from the rest. She seems like a genuinely lovely girl and her verbal dioherra sets me in stitches!

2. Miss Frank - These group of sassy divas were thrown together at the auditions as they showed great potential, but lacked the vocals to each go in alone. Since then, they have dazzled the public with their unique take on pop songs and their chemistry - considering they only met each other a few weeks ago - is remarkable. In my opinion, they are the only group which have a shot at taking home the title.

3. Lucie Jones - I have to say that this girl is my favourite to win. She sparkled at the auditions in Wales and although she lacks confidence in her vocal ability she is certainly one to watch. Although she has not yet found herself in her music yet, this girl is sure to explode into the competition soon.

4. Lloyd Daniels - The hot one. Oooooft. Wow. Don't you wish you could wrap this boy up and sent him to your door on special delivery? Although he hasn't got the strongest voice in the competition, he certainly has the looks, leaving the girls reeling after his passionate performances. Although confident in his own ability, he is not cocky, leaving him a good chance at the title. If it guaranteed a date with him I'd sell my house to vote for him!!

5. Olly Murs - Complete with his 'Olly shuffle' and dazzling performances, this man leaves the audience wanting more. With his cheeky confidence he definitely has a shot at the title. However, I worry slightly for this lad- his confidence could get the better of him in the weeks to come, shattering his hopes as far as the public are concened.

So there you go. Comment at your will, but these are definitely my top five. If one of them doesn't win I may die. Or at least stop watching the X factor!

An Introduction- Myself, blah, blah blah...

Ok here goes- in this blog (my first EVER I may add) I'm going to attempt to give my reasoning for insanely random and utterly ludicrous rants which shall come from this website in the time to come.

Firstly, an introduction. My name is Amy. My greatest passions in life are music, drama and english- hence why this blog was created. Another thing that I seem to be rather good at is making no plausible sense to many, on issues that some find not to be important.

More and more often I am told by my friends that I rant far too much. From the smallest things which generally urk me from day to day and those which have an impact on my life on a greater level. Don't you just wish that the people at tills wouldn't put your change on top of your receipt? How irritating is it when you wake up half an hour before your alarm goes off? How often do you want to strangle the person who takes the last sausage roll from Greggs: meaning you need to wait another 10 minutes for the next batch whilst your stomach grumbles in protest?

Due to these small, annoying things which happen in my life- and because most of my friends are tired of hearing about most of them- I decided the best way to share my views was to start this blog. That way I could stop bugging people who simply did not want to hear it and instead start on you. Haha (:

In saying that, I know I'm not alone. There are others who share similar thoughts, who get really annoyed at certain things and just want to be able to express their views somewhere. I'll tell you something- your place is here. Feel free to disagree, sympathise or comment on any of my posts- I want to hear your rants too. If there is something that really annoys you, chances are there is someone else who would like a better lie in some mornings, or a sausage roll that wasn't going to scald their stomach.

After all the world is far better when rants are exposed- from behind computer screens of course.
